So I received this knife about 10 minutes ago and well.. I'm not happy at all. I should have listened to David M. LePage Sr.'s review. He was right on about the quality of the knife. I was hoping that he maybe he received a bad unit. Not so or maybe, I received his return as it does appear this knife is "used". I will be posting some pictures before i send it back tomorrow. I also own SOG Specialty Knives & Tools TFSA-98 Flash II 1/2 Serrated, Black TiNi And it's a far superior knife.

I enthusiastically favor this knife over my others due the blade shape, SAT, color and size.
I wear a knife like the SOG Flash II, or several others, putting it to use countless times each day.
My SOG Trident, though perfect in size, shape and color had issues:
1) It is tough to open - (tougher than my other SOG's)
2) The safety is too sensitive and susceptible to a light brush past it to set it.
3) The belt clip isn't as good as other SOG's I have... it's a new one with a logo on it.
After no reply from SOG, I took the knife apart and fixed the two issues and now it's my favorite knife and I'd like to give it 5 stars. Unfortunately, I get two of the stars for doing the 'quality control' and SOG only gets 3.
Now, that my safety switch affirmatively locks (and more importantly, stays unlocked!) I believe the tough-to-open part will either 'wear in' or I will fix it too. I found instructions online.
I will most likely buy this product again.

The SOG Trident is a great knife. Assisted opening, AUS8 steel, beautiful bowie style blade, and great locking mechanism all are a plus. This knife is hated by some because of its poor lockup however. Out of box the blade wiggles side to side and can make the knife feel cheap. But, simply by tightening the pivot screw it will make lockup tight as ever. My trident locks up tight and is still fast. I wish the handle had better traction, but overall its not that bad. Super light weight and great pocket clip makes this knife a great buy for me.

Cryogenic Heat Treatment and TiNi Coating Guarantee a Sharp, Durable Blade
The TF-5 offers a full, 3.75-inch, AUS8 stainless steel blade that has undergone SOG's patented Cryogenic Heat Treatment process, which ensures that this blade will stay sharp over the long haul. This intensive process takes more than 48 hours and involves slowly reducing the blade's temperature to less than -300 degrees Fahrenheit, then slowly heating the blade to room temperature. The stress created by this process strengthens the steel on an atomic level and increases the blade's overall durability and edge retention.
In addition to having undergone the Cryogenic Heat Treatment Process, this knife was coated in proprietary titanium nitride (TiNi), of the toughest coatings that can be applied to steel. TiNi boasts extreme hardness, is exceptionally scratch and peel resistant, helps increase steel's longevity, and ensures low reflectivity.
Ergonomic, Lightweight Design Ensures Comfortable Use
Even if your blade is sharp, it's hard to make precise cuts if your knife doesn't fit comfortably in your hand. That's why this knife's handle is ergonomically contoured.
